About Help Desk Blogger
The router is blinking and nobody in the house is happy. You do not want a lecture on network topology. That is all this site does. You want the setting, the cable or the order to plug things in, and you want it before the film everybody sat down to watch has finished.
- Help Desk Blogger has been running since 2010 and is still publishing today. More than 250 articles are here to search.
- Every fix here has been done on real kit in a real house. If a step only works on one make of router, the piece says so instead of pretending. Advertising and paid placement pay for the site, and paid links are labelled where you will see them. A brand can buy space here and cannot buy a recommendation.
- The questions are the ones people type. Why is the wifi fine in one room and useless in the next. Do I need a mesh setup or a longer cable. Where should this drive live so a power cut does not take everything with it.
- We will tell you when the cheap answer is the right one. Plenty of setup advice exists to sell hardware, and this does not.
- Follow along and the house gets less annoying, one fix at a time, until the things that used to need a Saturday afternoon take about ten minutes. You also stop paying for kit you did not need.
We set it up first. Cables, firmware, the settings page nobody opens, all of it done here so the steps are in the order that actually worked rather than the order that reads well. When a fix fails, that goes in too.
Most home network advice is written to sell a box, and this is written to get the film started.
Send it to the person who asked.
Follow along and the next annoying evening has a shorter fix. Keep reading. If a piece here saves somebody in your house an argument about the wifi, or saves them buying a second router they never needed, pass it on.
Help Desk Blogger is one of fifteen titles published by G R Sites, an independent publisher writing since 2008, under one editorial policy and one disclosure standard. The other fourteen pick up where the cable ends. The bill. The warranty. The television that watches you back.
